Yankee Nick Johnson on the DL Again…I Told You So

New York Yankee Designated Hitter Nick Johnson has been placed on the Disabled List for 15 days.

I am not going to pretend to not be the guy who says, “I told you so”. But you know what, I told you so!

In an article here on Bleacher Report, I wrote that I couldn’t imagine why the Yankees with all of the money in the baseball universe, would want to throw $5.5M down the toilet.

The man is injury prone. Year after year after year. He should be in the Farmers Almanac as predictable as he is. If there is one thing you can be sure of during a baseball season is that Nick Johnson will spend time on the shelf. He is worse than “Medical” Bill Cartwright.

I know the bean-counters at Yankee Stadium could care less about money, but damn, if they were just wanting to piss it away they could have given it to starving children in the Bronx, or anywhere for that matter.

Look what they have received thus far for their money. In 72 AB he is batting only .167 with two HR and only eight RBI.

His endurance has surprised me, he making it nearly to Mid May before deciding to lie down and rest.

The man is shot, his days as a major leaguer are over. Read my article again for reinforcement if you must.

Johnny Damon is batting almost .300 with a .412 OBP, wouldn’t they rather have spent a buck or two more and have a little return on their dough?

It is not possible for Johnson to play a full season without busting something. He has an inflamed tendon in his wrist or something along those lines.

If you can’t stay healthy as a DH, there is no place for you in this game.

I am not a Yankee fan and it clearly shows. You Yankee fans may want to read what I am writing the next time. It is too late for this go around, Johnson is probably laughing all the way to the Physical Therapist.
