New York Yankees: Andrew Brackman Suffers Groin Injury

February 25, 2011   ·   Bronx Baseball Daily   ·   Jump to comments

In the battle for a rotation spot, Andrew Brackman has jumped out ahead as the leading rookie candidate to win the job.

But he endured a slight setback today, after suffering a groin injury that will keep him out until at least Tuesday, according to Marc Carig of the Star-Ledger.

It may not sound serious but, with pitchers, groin injuries can become lingering problems. A pitcher’s legs are extremely important to him; if he’s not 100 percent, the results just won’t be there.

“It’s not going to hurt me,” said Brackmanwho added that the Yankees are simply taking the proper precautions“But it couldn’t be a worse time.”

Right now, this isn’t a big problem. If it persists, it could cost him a rotation spotat least at first.

Of course, we’ll have any updates as they happen.
