Bud Selig Will Not Discipline Alex Rodriguez

Reports coming out of New York say that Commissioner Selig and the MLB do not plan to issue any disciplinary action unto New York Yankees starting third baseman Alex Rodriguez.

The decision was made once the investigation was complete, this coming from “sources” in baseball with intimate knowledge of the situation.

Rodriguez did meet with officials from Major League Baseball’s Department of Investigations and Labor Relations Department in March after he admitted to steroid use.

He claims the steroid use was from 2001-2003, but reports from the New York Times noted that Rodriguez might have used performance-enhancing drugs for a longer period, thus furthering the investigation.

When Selena Roberts came out with her book in April, more unflattering rumors surfaced that he was in possession of steroids as late as 2004.

Whether or not that is the case, the commissioner’s office had a difficult time coming to its conclusion.

Baseball investigators have interviewed Angel Presinal, the Dominican trainer who has been banned from all MLB clubhouses, but the session did not provide much information.  This is because baseball has no power to compel witnesses outside of its organization to cooperate.

A-Rod’s attorney, Jay K. Reisinger, declined comment for the New York Times story.
