This entire spring, Alex Rodriguez has looked like the A-Rod of old. He has been hitting the ball all over the field and has driven in runs on the regular.

He does not to appear to have any nagging injuries or be held back by anything. At 36 years old, Rodriguez has become an injury-prone player.

However, this offseason Rodriguez received treatment from Germany upon the recommendation of Kobe Bryant. The hopes are that this treatment will allow him to stay healthy this season.

If spring training is any indication of how the season will go for Rodriguez, the Yankees organization and Yankees fans will be thrilled. In 11 games this preseason, A-Rod has hit .345, with two HR and nine RBI.

While these numbers are a good sign, it is hard not to be skeptical because Rodriguez is no stranger to having big preseasons. In 18 spring training games in 2011, he hit .388, with six HR and 15 RBI. This led us to believe he was going to get back on track and have an MVP-caliber season, which obviously didn’t happen.

However, his success does indicate one thing. When Rodriguez is healthy and consistently playing, he is still one of the best players in baseball.

Time will tell if Rodriguez can get back to his old form. If the treatments are actually successful and he can stay on the field, he could have a typical A-Rod season that we have grown accustom to.

As of right now, the Yankees organization and Yankees fans have to be excited with what they have seen and should be optimistic for Rodriguez to get back to his MVP form in 2012.
