It’s not even April yet and the Bronx Bombers are getting decimated by injuries already.

Unfortunately, the New York Yankees just got even more bad news on Wednesday.

According to Andy McCullough of the Newark Star Ledger, Yankees first basemen Mark Teixeira will be out eight to10 weeks due to a sprained tendon in his wrist.

Teixeira felt discomfort in his wrist after batting practice at the World Baseball Classic, but was removed from the United States team and sent back for more testing.

The original report was that Teixiera would be out a minimum of 10 days to rest it, but with the MRI results coming back, it’s even worse news for the Yankees.

The team has already lost Curtis Granderson this preseason for eight to 10 weeks due to a broken forearm. Plus the team is without Alex Rodriguez, who is recovering from hip surgery.

So now the Yankees will have three of their top home run threats on the disabled list when the 2013 season starts: A-Rod, Granderson and now Teixeira.

The 32-year-old Teixeira hit .251 with 24 home runs and 84 RBI for the Yankees in 2012 and was looking for a rebound season in 2013.

No word yet on if the Yankees will look to fill Teixeira’s spot internally or will look to make a deal to add some power to the lineup.

The injury bug has really hit the Yankees hard before the season has even started.
