Jesus Montero may be the most exciting rookie in baseball right now. Yes B/R readers you heard that right. Four games in to his Major League career and he has already left everyone impressed.

September 5, 2011 was no different.

The Yankees played the Baltimore Orioles in a nail-biter today, narrowly defeating them 11-10. Mark Texiera got the Labor Day party stared with a home-run in the first and Robinson Cano topped him by hitting his third Grand Slam of 2011 in the second. The Orioles stayed close though, and after three innings, it was 8-7 Yankees. The score stayed the same until the top of the fifth when Robert Andino homered to make it 8-8.

The tie didn’t last long though. If there was one time where Montero could prove himself it was right then, and he certainly did. A long home run to right field pushing the score to 9-8. After the homer, the Yankees never let go of the lead, thanks in large part to another home run with Montero’s name on it.

The Orioles tried to come back with a run in the eighth and one in the ninth, but they couldn’t make up the deficit, ultimately losing 11-10.

I don’t think I have ever been more impressed with a rookie than I have with Jesus Montero. I hope that the Yankees put him at catcher soon so he can impress fans even more. This writer sees nothing but good things in the future for Mr. Montero, and he sincerely hopes that Jesus will live up to the standard he has set.
