Since getting lit up by the Angels for seven runs in 5.1 innings on May 28, the former Yankee phenom Phil Hughes is 3-0 with a 1.69 ERA, a 1.08 WHIP and 23 strikeouts in 21.1 innings over his past three starts. Is that just a nice hot streak, or can Hughes return to his 2010 form (18-8, 4.19 ERA)?

Hughes is just 7-5 with a 4.50 ERA, but he has been solid of late. Even with that seven-run disaster, he has lowered his ERA from 7.48 in his past eight starts, with all six of his quality starts coming during that stretch.

Hughes has been equally solid at home and on the road as he splits set up as 4-2 at home with a 4.46 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP and 3-3 on the road with a 4.54 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP, though he is 3-0 in his past three home starts with a 2.25 ERA.

His next start is today against the Braves in Yankee Stadium, which makes him a solid streaming option regardless of whether you decide to stick with him long-term.

Hughes is owned in less than forty percent of fantasy leagues.

He is worth adding to your fantasy pitching staff. He’s a good bet for wins and strikeouts and should not hurt your ERA dramatically. His WHIP tends to run a little high, but that is your trade off. His confidence is there and he has always had the stuff.

Roll with him while he’s riding high.
