Curtis Granderson Joins Yankees: Three-Team Deal Finalizing

After the hot stove with all things related to Curtis Granderson was reaching a boiling point, a blockbuster move has finally been reached.
Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated reports that Curtis Granderson will be heading to New York. He will be donning the pinstripes in a gigantic deal between the Tigers, Yankees, and the Diamondbacks.
The Yankees receive only center fielder Granderson in this deal, while they are moving their top outfield prospect Austin Jackson to the Tigers along with left-handed reliever Phil Coke. They are also moving 25-year-old starting pitcher Ian Kennedy to Arizona.
I can’t imagine many Diamondbacks fans being content with this move. They have traded the very talented Max Scherzer and a 23-year-old left-handed reliever Daniel Schlereth. In return, they receive an enigma known as Edwin Jackson.
Although the 26-year-old starter is coming off an above-average season, Jackson fell off the face of the Earth in the second-half of 2009, and his pure talent is not in the same stratosphere as Scherzer.
Arizona also acquires Kennedy in this deal, but again, is there anyone in the baseball world who thinks they actually improved by engaging in this transaction?
The Yankees move their very talented young outfielder Austin Jackson, but his upside may never be at the level that Granderson is playing at right now.
The Tigers also make out like bandits in this move by selling very high on Edwin Jackson, and as a team they now seem to be much better geared for the future with Scherzer in the wings.
All this deal is waiting on now are the physicals of each player involved.
All in all, this is a very exciting way to start off Day Two of the 2010 Winter Meetings.
