Angels Fan for a Day | The Tale of the Sweep

Much can be said about my extreme love for Boston sports. The most recent being the absolute pleasure I received July 12 from watching A-Fraud walk away from the plate after some real clutch hitting.
My brother Jim was in town, and we had decided to take a trip up to Anaheim to watch the Angels hand one to Yankees at Angel Stadium.
If you think you know what being hot is, you haven’t sat in the summer sun of Southern California for nine innings (atrocious). I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone, especially when your seats provide no cover, and you are such a fan of the sport you can’t leave your seat for even a little shade (fearing you’ll miss out on some serious action).
Action in baseball? Most definitely, especially in this nail biter.
Being a Red Sox fan, I root for any team who plays against the Evil Empire, and the Angels had won two prior games in this series. That meant that coming in if I wanted to see what I came for, the Angels had to finish the sweep.
Throughout the game I dealt with nasty Yankees fans squirming in their seats looking at my Red Sox shirt and hat. The Angels fans, even though we are dreadful playoff opponents, were very accepting of the attire. They understood I had called a truce for the day.
The Angels got an early 4-1 lead and held off the onslaught of the Yankees lineup for the rest of the game, ensuring the sweep. It was topped off by Alex Fraudriguez striking out to end the game.
It is such a great thing to be a fan of a game to the point you don’t care who’s playing, but it is far better to watch your enemies perish from the hands of your temporary allies.
The Sox worked over the Royals that day as well, increasing their lead over the Yanks by another game.
They are on track for a 100 wins this year! Let’s keep up the support!
