The Brian Cashman-Alex Rodriguez saga appears to be over just one day after it started.

The New York Yankees‘ general manager and star third baseman got into a bit of a public spat Tuesday, but it wrapped up quickly, with A-Rod getting off scot-free.

It’s rare to see players coming out of public feuds looking good, but Rodriguez was able to do it.

The fight started when A-Rod tweeted the latest update in his rehab before the team was ready to announce it to the public.

Cashman was none too happy with Rodriguez for letting the world know exactly where he was on his path back to baseball.

According to Andrew Marchand of ESPN New York, Cashman quickly sounded off, dropping an F-bomb that exploded on Twitter and brought the feud to the public.

“You know what, when the Yankees want to announce something, [we will]. Alex should just shut the f— up. That’s it. I’m going to call Alex now.”

These words sparked a fire in New York, but according to ESPN’s Buster Olney (subscription required), Cashman wasn’t the only one thinking A-Rod should shut up.

Rodriguez quickly heard what Cashman had to say, and it looks like he got the message.

A-Rod issued a statement about the spat Wednesday morning, but he didn’t feel the need to apologize, as per Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News.

‘I will continue to work hard until my efforts get me back in pinstripes and help my team win,’ A-Rod said in a statement. ‘The tweet was pure excitement about Dr. Kelly’s prognosis.’

‘He is so excited to get into games,’ a source close to A-Rod said Sunday. ‘He wants to prove something to himself.’

A-Rod didn’t take the bait and fire back at his GM, instead taking the high road and putting it behind him.

Rodriguez’s high-minded response left Cashman looking like an idiot, and fans took notice.

With Cashman losing face and looking like a jerk, he quickly reached out and apologized for his words, wrapping up the dispute.

With the fight apparently over, it’s no secret who came out on top and who looks like a chump.

Rodriguez enjoyed a rare public victory against Cashman, whereas arguably the top GM in baseball appears to have lost his temper and will suffer the consequences in the public eye.

In retrospect it looks like A-Rod was simply very excited by the good news. After sitting out for so long he is finally able to start playing the game he loves again, and it’d be tough not to be on cloud nine after getting the news he did.

Rodriguez’s tweet can be seen not as an ill-timed post, but instead as proof of his love of the game.

Cashman, on the other hand, looks like a troll who overreacted to Rodriguez’s remarks. If the news A-Rod received was correct it would have eventually leaked out, and if it’s not that blame should lie on the doctor, not the player.

A-Rod finds himself in good graces with the public and is on track to return to the field soon, whereas Cashman looks like an idiot.

Who do you think won?
